Double Standards

A couple of weeks ago I got a note through the door from Leicester City Council.
The gist of it was that bins left on the street were causing a hazard to children attending the local primary school, elderly people and blind people. This despite it being a very wide pavement and parents filling every available parking space day and afternoon despite living in the catchment area. The blind people thing I can live with, it's not fair on them so the bin is now brought out on a Tuesday morning and gets put back when I get home from work.
So imagine my surprise when I got home from work today to find my bin in the middle of the pavement. Not left there by me but by whatever company empties them for LCC. No-one had bothered to move it during the course of the day. There wasn't any kind of pram pile-up or anyone stuck upside down in it after accidentally falling in.
This leaves me wondering. How much of a problem is it if it's not the priority of the bin company to move it out of harms way once it is emptied?
The council and contractor aren't talking.

Seven Foot Reading List

Sunday is my day for book crate digging.
Today was a good day.
Firstly a biography of Benny Hill. In my opinion a misunderstood character. I'm about to find out if I'm right or wrong.
Secondly a history of Mossad. Recently in the news and as elusive as ever this book should shed some light on the organisation.
Last buy not least a collection of books by J.P. Donleavy. By all accounts a very readable and humorous author. I look forward to my discovery along that road.
Books make me happy and today's hoard is no exception.

Expectations

When things live up to and surpass your expectations it's always a good day.
Yesterday it was my Ukar. My good old electric guitar made playable by emulating a baritone uke. Plugged into my PodXT Live fx board it sounds as good as ever but this time there is a tune under the fx.
Today it was the purchase of a plugin called Toxic Biohazard. I've wanted it for a while and having got it I'm very impressed. I thought it might be a little tricky to program, but it isn't. It sounds amazing too and as for the onboard sequencer, well, the possibilities are endless.
So far a great weekend.

As Good As It Gets

I love my baritone uke and I love my electric guitar too.
Thing is that I'm crap on six strings and OK on four. What to do?
Well I looked on t'internet and found a very local (like a street away) guitar repair and set-up chap that will re-string, change the nut and set-up my electric as a baritone uke. All for a very reasonable price. How good is that? It'll save me hundreds of pounds which is what a new electric baritone uke would cost me.
Add to that that I had a huge rum and raison ice cream today and so far it's been an ace day.

What Twitter Missed

With no limits on words there is still little to say.
I thought I'd type instead of tweet, and I'm glad I did.
This could well be the future.
