Still Playing

It doesn't matter how old you are, playing with Lego is immense fun.
I had real Lego until I was about 13 years old. I never grew tired of it. There was always something to create, stories to tell, if only to myself, and time slipped by at an alarming rate. There never seemed to be enough time to finish the adventure, but there was always tomorrow to start again.
LeoCAD is software that gives you unlimited bricks and pieces and so you can build whatever you like. The advantage, being software, is that there's always time to finish the adventure because you can save your work for tomorrow.
Then there's FlowScape with which you can create environments to put your LeoCAD Lego models into. Once you've finished creating your scene you can save a picture or two or even a movie. The adventure or story once created can be saved.
If I'm not making music then I'm making 3D worlds. I find it challenging and relaxing at the same time. It's never boring and time still flies by. Some might say that my inner child is seeping out but I'd disagree.
I'm an adult and this is my idea of fun.

Sunset

I've been busy in Bitwig Studio again.
Here is the latest release from AmpUT, it's called 'Sunset'.
As usual it's released under a Creative Commons licence and is free to download.
You can listen to or get the track from here.

Never Been There

I've spent another evening creating things that don't exist.
Messing around with 3D worlds can literally take up hours of ones life. Finding the right scene with the right elements and trying to create a mood that inspires a story in ones head is all part and parcel of the game.
Creating 3D models is another story altogether. You can have an idea and start building only to find that you've lost an hour and the model doesn't work. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to that process but I'm learning.
In the meantime I'll happily spend hours in Flowscape dreaming up places that don't exist.
It's fun and it's meant to be.

Far Sighted

Something different this weekend.
It's been a long time since I played with any 3D software. Years ago when I was still on Windows I used to mess around with Bryce 3D. That software doesn't work with Linux so I've been trying out FlowScape. It's available on all platforms and is quite cheap as far as software goes.
The little scene above is my first with FlowScape. It's fairly easy to to pick up but will require practice to fully get to grips with. What I like about the software is that it will import .obj files and I can make them with the Sweet Home package which is also available on Linux.
I imagine from time to time I'll show you what I've been up to with 3D software including some basic work with Blender.

A Long Process

I've been missing from these posts for a few weeks.
That's not a bad thing. It just means that I have stuff to do and that I'm getting on with it. As well as working on a new encryption routine I've been hard at it in the studio getting a new tune to work. Sometimes it's worked, other times not and so I set about fixing or changing things.
It's now at the stage where it has been arranged, mixing the track comes next. This track will need a lot of mixing. Generally it's fine but subtle panning and volume changes need to be automated to get everything to sit right in the mix. That'll take time because I need to listen in both my headphones and on the studio monitors. I just don't have much time on the monitors because of the hours I work so finishing this part of the process might take longer than usual.

While I'm here I might as well mention Brexit. I like to stay away from politics on this platform. I didn't want to leave the EU. I'm happy for those that got what they wanted. I'm also happy that I'm entitled to an Irish passport so I can stay and be gone all at the same time.
Monster is waiting for me. I hope we won't be apart for long.
